About Us

Since its inception in 1989, members of the Sunshine Slopers Ski Club have enjoyed skiing and year round fun-filled activities. As the first African American ski club established in the State of Florida, we currently have some 250 members which include singles, couples and youth who enjoy South Florida’s warmth and diversity.

The Sunshine Slopers are also members of the National Brotherhood of Skiers (NBS) and strongly support the NBS mission of identifying, funding and sustaining athletes of color for Olympic and international winter sport competitions. We are also proud members of the Florida Ski Council - one of the largest winter sports-oriented organizations in Florida.

Meetings are held every third Sunday at 3:00 p.m. in the Betty T. Ferguson Recreational Complex, located at 3000 N.W. 199th Street in the City of Miami Gardens. We extend the opportunity for anyone interested in learning more about the Sunshine Slopers to attend, travel with us, have fun on the slopes and enjoy new friends in an atmosphere of warmth and excitement.
